A: The third trimester typically begins around week 28 and lasts until the end of the pregnancy, which is around week 40 or beyond.
A: Common symptoms include increased discomfort, backache, swelling in the feet and ankles, frequent urination, heartburn, shortness of breath, and Braxton Hicks contractions.
A: Braxton Hicks contractions are practice contractions that can occur throughout pregnancy. They are usually irregular and less intense than real labor contractions. A good way to determine if you are experiencing Braxton Hicks or labor contractions is by taking a warm bath. If the contractions go away then you are most likely experiencing Braxton Hicks
A: Chiropractic: If you havent received care already, have your nervous system and spine checked by a chiropractor. Nerve irritation can directly effect the communication between the the brain, pituitary gland (i.e. hormone production) and reproductive organs. Subluxations can also influence the effectiveness of labor.
Evening Primrose Oil: Evening primrose oil is commonly used to help ripen the cervix. You can take a capsule and squirt it directly onto the cervix or apply it with your fingers.
A: If your water breaks, you experience consistent contractions that become stronger and closer together, or if you notice decreased fetal movement, contact your healthcare provider or go to the hospital.
